The beauty and wonder of the Gulf of Maine will be showcased in a presentation, "Beneath the Waves," by undersea photographer Andrew Martinez at Seacoast Science Center on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. His lecture and slide show are part of the regular meeting of the Isles of Shoals Historical and Research Association (ISHRA).
Martinez has combined his interests in natural history, scuba diving and photography to become a world-class photojournalist specializing in the enchanting world of marine wildlife underwater. His work has appeared in nature, travel and dive magazines in the United States and internationally. His photographs convey the profound beauty of life undersea and the changing seasons of the ocean.
ISHRA's mission is to expand awareness of the natural and human history of the Isles of Shoals, located just six miles off the New Hampshire coast. Martinez will also be the featured speaker at a five-day ISHRA conference on Star Island next June 23-27. More information on the conference will be presented at the Nov. 8 meeting.
